What is public

Your @username, display name, avatar and bio are visible to other people on MsgMe, subject to your discoverability settings. Nothing else about your account is public.

What is private

Your email address is private account information. It is required so we can verify your account, let you reset a forgotten password, and send security notices. It is never shown to other users, never used to match you with anyone, and never used as your identity.

What we never ask for

No phone number. No contact list upload. No social login. No real-name requirement.

Messages and media

Messages, voice notes and attachments are stored so they can be delivered to the people in the conversation. Media files are kept in private storage and served only to participants of that chat, through an authorised request. Deleting a message removes it for everyone in the chat.

Reports and moderation

When you report a person, message or group, MsgMe stores your report along with a limited snapshot of the specific content you reported, so a moderator can review it. Moderators do not browse conversations and cannot read chats that were not reported.

Security data

We store password and recovery-code hashes (never the values themselves), session records for the devices you are signed in on, and notification subscriptions for devices where you enabled push. You can end any session from Security settings.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account removes your profile, settings and sessions, anonymises your message history, and permanently reserves your username so nobody can impersonate you afterwards.

Contact

Questions about privacy can be raised from Settings → Help & support once you are signed in.
